Abraham was so focussed on what God had told him. He was sure of his life, what is his destiny. What his call is. No decision he would take would counter that.
When Eliezer asked Abraham, what if your relative's family refuse to send the girl to be Isaac's wife, shall I take Isaac back there? And Abraham replies.
Gen 24: 6-8
Make sure that you don't take my son back there. The Lord the God of heaven, who brought me out of my father's household and my native land and who spoke to me and promised me an oath saying "To your offspring, I will give this land".......... Only do not take my son back there.
He was so sure of what his calling was. All his decisions were based on that. He wouldn't let anything in this world deter him from that focus and counter his call. He might have thought of Lot, who had set out along with him, how slowly he faded away, because of subtle compromises.
How do you make your decisions? Big and small. Are all of those in line with your calling? Or do you reach out to every possible good things, which others venture out on.
1 Cor:10:23 Everything is permissible, but not everything is beneficial. Everything is permissible, but not everything is edifying.
