The Lord's promise to Abram - I am your very great reward. I am going to give myself to you.  Probably Abram was so preoccupied with his own problem - Lord I don't have a child.  The Lord answers - I am going to deal with it Abram. You will have not one child, through him and through my Son, in faith all people of earth will be your children.  And Abram believed and the Lord counted him as righteous because of his faith.  I can label Abram desire as personal, selfish or less spiritual and more emotional. He was so pre occupied with it. Even when God offered him a blessing of his lifetime - willing to reveal more of Him to him, Abram is focussed on his ache, his pain. I can call him narrow minded or self centred. But God doesn't do that.  He sees the faith Abram has and honours him by granting him his desire. He transforms that into something which becomes more than he asked for. A blessing for nations.  Actually I was thinking, why God answered ...

Are you obsessed with something?  You may call it passion, dream or ambition.  You may label it as justice or revenge or the "I am justified" demeanor Are you obsessed with habits or perversions or addictions?  What do you plan to do with all the likes and retweets and your shares and your views? Hoard them all together and step on it to heaven?  Saul was obessed with anger towards David, that all he could think of the whole day was means to kill him. He is even angry with his own son and his elite set of soldiers when he couldn't kill.  Judas Iscariot was obsessed with money. Saul (who became Paul) was obsessed with things of God that he had set out to kill Christians who were against the God of his religion.  What do you let your heart obsessed with? Can I be obsessed with God and means of knowing Him? Can He be the only thing I desire? Can I be passionate about Him? Is it practically possible?  David says - The one thing I ask of the Lor...

The people craving for meat gets enough and more. Quail was all around, they were gorging. But the Lord's anger falls upon them and they were struck with a great plague. The Lord was angry because they were thankless.  Sometimes out of our persistence, out of our selfish desire, even if He doesn't approve, He might grant it to us - but with its consequences. The Lord approving doesn't mean He compromises. His standards never change. But ultimately Rom:8:28 still holds true. God works all things for good for those who love Him. Let us not be adamant of our desire. Let our prayers be like Jesus - Let not my will but yours be done.
