I would be powerless to do anything against the will of the Lord my God - Balaam Yes the Lord is Sovereign - ultimately His will alone will happen. And whatever we try to do against it would be powerless and futile. Yet remember He is a good God, not a cruel one. So our job is to just trust in Him. Determination, Ambition, Focus and Striving hard are all good. But the underlying question has always to be " Is it your will?" Do not strive if it's not His will . Secondly, if an aparent ill thing happens in your life, work hard to rectify it. Moreover pray - Is it your will to let me go through this? If it is, what is it that you are trying to tell me? A sin to confess. A prideful heart. Resentment or hatred. Is this some sort of pointer to a deeper rottenness. When we feel powerless, power comes from yielding to His will.
