Believed


Abraham believed God and it was credited to him as righteousness. Gen 15:6
What did he belive? Not the promises. But on the promise keeping God. Truthfulness of God. 
God asked him to leave his native country - he did. 
I will bless you into a great nation - he believed. 
All families will be blessed through you - he believed. 
I will protect you - he believed. 
I am your very great reward - he believed. 
Your servant will not be your heir, you will have descendants as countless as stars - he believed. 
Live a blameless life- he obeyed. 
A son is promised, next year - he believed despite evidence to the countrary. 
Even when Lot chose the better land, he persisted in God. Building altars and worshipping Him where ever he went. 
Take your son and sacrifice for me -he obeyed without questions. 
We will worship there and we will come back - he said. 
God will provide a sheep. 

Yes it is the God he is following whom he trusted and believed. That God is true. That God is faithful. That God will provide. 
What do we believe in our life? What do we persist in believing? 
Is it the promises that we look forward to, or the God behind it? Because Abraham understood this essence, God promises Himself to him. I am your very great reward. 
What do I want from God?

The Revelation

Revelation is often considered a difficult book to understand. A book which you often can't make head or tail of. Full of prophecies about what is about to happen. How do you interpret it in the present scenario. Who is antichrist. Where is a loving God in this? Unanswered questions all around. But here is a promise. Rev:1:3 Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophesy and blessed are those who hear it and take it to heart what is written in it, because the time is near. The attempt is not to give full answers to all your questions. The attempt is to read and hear and believe, so that we would all be blessed. Because the time is very short. Read and hear and believe. Unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit. 1 Pet:3:4 Though this is told to the wives; it is a very good admonition for all of us. To have a gentle and quiet spirit, is an incomparable unfading inner beauty. The real beauty is not your outwardly appearance. Real beauty is your inner spirit - to be gentle and quiet. Not to be quarrelsome. Not to be picking fights. But to be a peacmaker. especially in your family. V:1. Wives, in the same way, be submissive to your husbands. In which same way? The example is of Jesus. 2:23. Eternal life

What is eternal life? 1 John:2:24-25 See that what you have heard from the beginning remains in you. If it does, you also will remain in the Son and in the Father. And this is what He promised us - even eternal life. The Triune God remaining in you and you in Him, is eternal life.  John:17:3  - Now this is eternal life. That they may know you, the only true God and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent Eternal life is not something you will receive on the other side of death. Golden streets, the river that will continue to flow without being dried up, fruits on trees in all season. Eternal life is now. It is knowing Him and remaining in Him. Life in all its abundance. Life to the fullest as it is designed to be. Yes it extends to eternity.  That it is not limited to a time frame, is just one dimension to it. Do not be surprised

Do not be surprised my brothers, if the world hates you.  1 John:3:13 No element of surprise. Expect the worst. Expect hatred. Expect no love. Then you won't be surprised. Because the world hated Jesus first. The world. Not directed to people. The system. We are enemies of the evil one.  So naturally the principalities of this world will fight. Hate. Giving is better than getting

Do not love the world, nor the things in the world. 1John:2:15 If you love the world, then the love of the Father is not in you. Anything of this world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, the pride of life, these are the things that you can summarise about the world. These are not of the Father. If you have these, it is evident that the love of the Father is not in you. The cravings of your body, the second look that you look, the boasts of your life, are against the Spirit who is in you. Anything self centred is not from the Father. Anything that gives you selfish pleasure is not from the Father. But anything that pleases the Father is centred around selfless love. To give.
