All the people did what seemed right in their own eyes. What a pathetic situation it would have turned out to be?
You might call it freedom. But actually it's utter chaos.
Judg:17 tells about a Micah and his mother who installed an idol in their house and a personal priest, thinking God would bless him.
What is wrong in living a life which seems right in your own eyes? Without a moral standard or etiquette?
People would drive on any side of the road.
Shopkeepers would put price that they like for commodities that they sell.
Fights and quarrels would be common everywhere as there would be no law and order.
Everyone's arguement would be - it is right in my eyes. That is why there is need of an uncorrupted Supreme being whom we need to answer to.
Matt:28:18 Jesus came and told his disciples, " I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth"
Eph:1:21 Now He is far above any ruler or authority or power or leader or anything else not only in this world but also in the world to come.
Matt:11:27 All things have been handed over to Me by My Father.
Col:2:10 He is head over all rule and authority.
John:3:35 The Father loves the Son and has given all things into His hand
Phil:2:10 So that at the name of Jesus, every knee shall bow of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth.
Yes dear, whatever justification we can give of our motives and actions; we are indeed answerable one day to the Supreme authority. And we are answerable to Him not based on our standards, but His.
Are you ready?
🙏
