Am I not better than ten sons?

Am I not better than ten sons? - Elkanah's words of comfort to his wife Hannah.

This note is to the husbands and to be husbands. (Wives need not read today 😉)
What an amazing example? In this world where we love our profession, our career, our friends, our hangouts, our desires and dreams and ambitions more than our wives.
We need to understand the essence of Christian marriage.
God created woman out of man's rib - so that he would love her as his own.
Close from the heart - to love her
Beneath his arm - to care for her and protect her.
God created woman as a helper to man. Now this is something which is often misinterpreted. Where man demands woman to do everything for his comforts quoting woman is created for man and not vice versa. But the truth is, the helper is instituted because, we need help.
She is not our subordinate to be trampled upon. She is not inferior to be made to do all the work. Infact we are inferior, because we can't live without help.
Can I do multitasking?
Brewing tea + making breakfast + cooking lunch + taking quiet time + talking to and teaching children + providing for parents + helping husband. All together at one time.
As men we are actually incapable without our wives. We need to underline this fact in our hearts. Then we wouldn't consider them as helper or inferior.
I'm not the superhero of my family. She is. Not just mine. All of ours.
It is not good for man to be alone.

Eph:5:25 Husbands love your wives just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her, to make her holy and clean washed by the cleansing of God's word.

Am I willing to give away my plans and desires for her?
Supermom or not.
Inadequate or incompatible?
God has brought us both together
God has united us in His name.
For his glorious purpose.

As men of example it's our duty to love her, as your prized possession, to care for her, to put to death your life for her. Just as Christ loved you. Nobody is superior or inferior in this relation. God has made us one unit. One flesh.

She is more precious than rubies
She will greatly enrich his life.
Her children stand and bless her.
Her husband praises her.
But a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised

Control

Pro:13:3 Those who control their tongue will have a long life Opening your mouth can ruin everything.  Blurting out whatever comes in your mouth is lack of self discipline. Lack of self control. You are a man of emotions. You don't have reigns in control. You are a poor man driven by passion.  James:3:2. For if we could control our tongues, we would be perfect and could also control ourselves in every other way.  James:3:6. And the tongue is a flame of fire.  What comes out of your mouth has power to burn people down, destroy their lives and ruin them, demolish them. Is that what you want? May be on your anger you might want. But it is not God's will. Keep quiet when you need to.   A "I hate you" will do you or other person no good. Winning the argument will never be constructive.  Col:4:6 Let your conversations be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone.  Eccl:5:2 Let your words be few.  Eph:4:29 Let everything you sa

Silent

Pro:11:12 But a man of understanding keeps silent.  It is easy to pick a fight. It is easy to argue and ascertain your point. It is easy to yell aloud. But that leads to ruin and destruction. You might have won the argument. But to the onlookers you have ended up being the fool.  By keeping quiet, by letting others win, by letting others maraud, you spread peace. You are blessed if you are a peacemaker, for then you will be called sons of God.  The only begotten Son of God, did the very same thing. He kept quiet when all were against Him.  Isa:53:7. Yet He did not open His mouth. He was led like a lamb to the slaughter and as a sheep before it's shearers is silent, so He did not open His mouth.  Image credit:  https://www.keralatourism.org/destination/silent-valley-national-park-palakkad/157

Cut

Pro:12:18 Some people make cutting remarks But the words of the wise bring healing.  While you win an argument, when you say hurting words and cutting remarks, the wounds are inconsolable. Be wise in your words. Constructive positive words. Words which bring healing and joy.  Lord let the words of my mouth be useful for others, building them up, encouraging and uplifting them. Even when I hear cutting remarks around me. You be my life - you have words of life. Fill me with your word. That I can be a source of boost for others today.  Image credit:  https://www.seriouseats.com/how-to-cut-carrots-7963002

Very little to eat?

Pro:15:16-17 Better to have little with fear of the Lord Than to have great treasure and inner turmoil A bowl of vegetables with someone you love Is better than steak with someone you hate.  Surplousness is not the thing that gives you satisfaction. Unlike the common idea that runs in the world. Everyone thinks if you have enough, that's it.  But the best dreams are not seen on the softest pillow but more so for a destitute who sleeps on the streets. It is not what you have in your hand, but that which is in your mind that gives you sleep and satiety and satisfaction.  Fearing God or Godliness, having people to love, family to cherish - these are what makes you joyous than a large platter of meat. Even a vegetable stew will make your face cheerful (not belittling the dish), if there is joy in God.  One step further - in the midst of turmoil, you will still be smiling. Even if there is no gruel to drink, the faith that God will take care, your Abba will take care. That s

secret

Pro:12:7 But the family of the godly stands firm.  In a world of broken families, this is the key. A God intended institution only God can sustain. Like a three braided cord, it is strong. It is not the love that you can manufacture. Now matter how selfless and forgiving you thought you would be, when it hits the turf we all lose our lid.  But if God is in the center of it all, if we are assured that the Eternal, Almighty God is with us in all we go through, if we can trust that no hurting words will be able to distant us from each other or from God, that is the secret of happy joyous family Image credit:  https://www.sentiamedical.com/home/silhouette-of-happy-family-who-playing-on-the-beach/

Death is not the end - prose

Pro:14:32 But godly have a refuge when they die.  Man can only know (at least as of now), till he dies.  All his assets, all his achievements, all his accolades.  All his griefs, all his failures and all his loneliness.  Is only till he die. At least as far as he knows.  The greatest of the greatest can only say,  'Empty handed I came. Empty handed I go' But here is a man who claims to say Any one who believes in me Will live, even after dying.  That whosoever believes, shall not perish But have eternal life.  There need not be any fear of death if you believe in Jesus.  No uncertainty.  Your loved ones will be taken care of.  They will have His peace.  Believe in the Son of God.  And you will have eternal life (John:3:36)  What do you believe in Jesus?  That He died and rose again for my sin?  Well that is just the beginning.  Believe that He is enough. He is Elshaddai.  He will take care. He is Jehovah Jireh.  He is my fortress. He is my refuge and my strong tower

Weigh

Pro:12.25 Worry weighs a person down An encouraging word cheers a person up.  Keep on worrying, keep on going down. Resist. Tell an encouraging word to yourself.  Why? Not because your determination or positive energy is going to bring a change. But because your God is Sovereign and Good. He has called you to bless you. He has plans to prosper you and not to harm you.  The most encouraging words are not obtained from the mouths of your best friend. But from God Almighty, Maker and Possessor of the whole universe who is your Maker as well. Your Father. That He will never leave you not forsake you.  Take a deroute from your worrying life to a life filled with joy and happiness by trusting in Him. Hallelujah He is Jehovah Jireh.  Image credit:  https://www.shutterstock.com/search/drowning-hand
