Ruth clung tightly to Naomi.
Wherever you go, I will go, wherever you live I will live. Your people will be my people and your God will be my God.
Orpah and Ruth were given the same choice. Orpah wept and kissed her mother in law good-bye. But Ruth clung tightly. There was no doubt that Orpah loved Naomi, like Ruth
Initially when Naomi, told them to go back to their mother's homes, they said in unison. "We want to go with you to your people." There is no doubt that Orpah loved Naomi. There is no doubt that Orpah wanted to go to the wonderful homeland of Naomi. There was no doubt that Orpah received a glimpse of the God of Naomi. But Ruth clung on tightly.
If Orpah had taken that decision to cling on tightly to Naomi, like Ruth, her life would have been totally different. But here we know nothing more of her.
Choices made determines the life you gonna live. Let us remind ourselves to cling on to the legacy of our fathers and forefathers. Let us remember to cling on to You who is eternal and Sovereign and not belittle ourselves in clinging on to temporary things.
Here is something which I wrote sometime earlier about clinging.

ReplyDeleteOur Lord is constant..does not change...we have to kill our self to let the lamb of God reside in our heart so that the spirit of God live in us.
