The halfbaked Bard

Mal:2:5 The purpose of the covenant with the Levites was to bring life and peace and that is what I gave them. This required reverence from them and they greatly revered me and stood in awe of my name. They passed on to the people  the truth of instructions they received from me. They did not lie or cheat, they walked with me, living good and righteous lives and they turned away from lives of sin.  A covenant where God would offer life and peace and man would revere the name of God, living a good and righteous life.  And did we deserve it? Not at all. God offered this covenant, He took the first step, when we were rebellious. His heart yearning that we would come back. There was no benefit for Him. There was no need for Him to do this.
