Covenant

Mal:2:5
The purpose of the covenant with the Levites was to bring life and peace and that is what I gave them. This required reverence from them and they greatly revered me and stood in awe of my name. They passed on to the people  the truth of instructions they received from me. They did not lie or cheat, they walked with me, living good and righteous lives and they turned away from lives of sin.

A covenant where God would offer life and peace and man would revere the name of God, living a good and righteous life.
And did we deserve it? Not at all. God offered this covenant, He took the first step, when we were rebellious. His heart yearning that we would come back. There was no benefit for Him. There was no need for Him to do this. Only pure love and compassion.

Sea of distress

Zech:10:11 They will pass safely through the sea of distress.  Ps:23:4 Even though I walk through the valley of shadow of death I fear no evil For you are with me.  It is the safety in the journey that God assures. There is no guarantee that you wouldn't go through the sea of distress or the valley of shadow of death. But you will travel through it safe. That is a sure promise. You are with me. That is an assurance. Which will never change.  Oh! dear one. Whatever sea of distress, whatever turmoil you are going through, whatever mighty waves are raging around you. The calm assurance that Jesus is on the ship, is something you can rely on. Something which you can cling to. And He is able to calm the storm is a surety. You are not alone in this. He is with you. He will enable you. He will equip you. He will strengthen you. He will give grace to face. He will not leave you alone.  He will complete what He has begun. According to His plan. His good plan. His hopeful and pur

Are you wounded? Are you weak?

Zech:10:12 By my power, I will make my people strong.  This God equips. The hope is that the weak will not always be weak. In a world which teaches, survival of the fittest, God once again proves, He is of a different genre. He enables the weak, strengthens the heavy laden.  We are not talking about physical strength. We are talking about facing the enemy. A fallen angelic being is definitely more powerful than a finite human. This war would soon be over. Human beings will thoroughly be defeated.  And as God intervenes, He could have eradicated the enemy in a second because He is stronger. But as He equips the weaker being to defeat the stronger being, by resisting, by trusting, by hoping, He instils His power to the weaker being. The weaker one trusts and clings on to Him and the victory is won.  In fact the battle has already been won, because it is the Lord's. But your individual fights with the defeated enemy is also yours to be won. And you cannot win it based on y

I do.....

For the men...  Remain loyal to your wife of your youth. Oh! I have been faithful to the love of my life.  The prophet extends his cry. Guard your heart. How many of us have been faithful in our hearts. The God whom we follow says this - He who looks lustfully at a woman, commits adultery. On screen or off. Directly or indirectly.  With this holy standard of God, we have all failed.  And divorce means, overwhelming her with cruelty. Not necessarily means physical breakage of bond. Physical, mental, emotional cruelty is considered as divorce.  He who made you one in His sight, wails with pain when seperated. One flesh torn apart. Three braided cord it is, pulled apart, it bruises and lacerates Him as well as you both, when there is lack of love, when there is no unity. He who is love expects, nothing short of love in this relationship. Unconditional Agape love. Just as Christ loved the church. Just as the church submits to Him.  The intention of God is clear - to give you a gift, flesh

Respect - A Prose

Where are the honour and respect I deserve? Mal:1:6 King Almighty. Magnificent Father Omnipotent. Omniscient. Omnipresent.  Creator. Sustainer. Judge.  Alpha and Omega. The Beginning and the End.  Not created. Always existing. No end.  Humbled Himself to obedience to death.  Even death on the cross.  To redeem. To salvage. To rescue.  Whom? Not His son. But His enemy.  This wretched being.  Stooped down to save me.  Ran to the muck that I'm involved.  Got Himself into it.  The very thing He abhors.  So that this wretched being might be saved Could be cleansed and given heirship.  Oh! He deserves all my honour and respect.  But where is it?  It is only contempt that I offer By giving defiled sacrifices.  Left over time. Not my peak time.  Crippled desire. Soiled interests.  Whilst you should be giving your whole.  He gave His whole to you Where of you have been reluctant.  Part is defiled. Portion is soiled.  While is full and pure. Complete is sacred.  Image credit:  https://buildi

A friend in need.......

2 Sam:10:5 David sent his ambassadors to the newly appointed king of Ammonites, Hanun, to express his grief over the death of his father, king Nahash, saying that he is going to show loyalty to him, just as his father showed loyalty to him.  But Hanun dealt with them in shame, shaving off half of their beard and cutting off their robes.  In v:5 we read they fell deep shame because of their appearance. And David also identifies with them, sympathizes with them. He is also ashamed along with them.  David as a king is a perfect example of what God is for us. When you are ashamed, He is also ashamed along with you. When you are saddened, He too is saddened with you. When you are joyous, He rejoices with you. He is a God who identifies with you. He is a God who feels for you and is with you at all times.  It is so comforting to know that there is a friend always, by you, in your times of joy and in your times of sorrow. It is said, 'When you share your joy it is doubled and

In my conveniences

You have shown favouritism in the way you carry out my instructions. Mal:2:9 We often are proud of ourselves when we obey God in the few things He has asked us. And highlight it. We often expect blessings from Him, based on the "high" level of obedience we think we have done.  But many a times, we forget that our obediences have favouritisms. Favouritisms to our conveniences. Favouritisms to approvals. Favouritisms to things which we feel like doing. Avoiding the ones which we are not comfortable with - either physically or mentally.  Go ye to North India with my gospel. Oh! There are other people who are burdened to do that. Share the Gospel to your closest friend right there. Oh! That will affect our relationship.  Teach your children the word of God. Oh! That is the Sunday School Teacher's job. I am busy earning and providing for the family.  Stand for me in your work place. Oh! Everyone else is doing.  Give your tithes. Oh! Not this month Lord. This month

Feign - poem

Read Zech:11:12 Oh thirty pieces of silver Why did you end up in that purse That feigned to pay the penalty Yet you became the betrayal money Why did you get thrown to the potter Why did you pretend to be the ransom money Yes you became the money for the one who died Not on the cross, but on the edge of a rope Yes, oh thirty pieces of silver You were a cause of remorsr for the one Who betrayed his beloved one Yet you led him to death not life You have been blood stained Not the pure innocent blood of the Saviour But of remorse, of guilt - "I have betrayed,  Innocent blood" - echoes as you clang The answer to the Why It has all been told ahead By prophets who foresaw And by the One who foreknew You did not have the choice, oh thirty pieces of silver But the man who gave The man who took, the man who threw They all stand guilty Oh thirty pieces of silver Your descendants this bard uses too To betray my own lover.  Ashamed, wretched.  Yet not guilty. For it is not yo
