Everything restored


2Kings:8:6. So he directed one of his officials to see that everything she had lost was restored to her, including the value of any crops that had been harvested during her absence.

What an amazing God we serve? Who restores whatever we have lost. Even the produce of the land while she wasn't even there. And all of these, why? Because she did something extra ordinary for the country? Why was it that she was able to find favour in the king's eyes? Not because of any good in her. But because of the testifications by Gehazi to the king that her son was raised up from the dead.
Gehazi the leper was talking to the king about the miracles that Elisha has done. Exactly the time when he was talking about the Shunemite woman, she comes in to ask the king.... I'm enthralled at the timing.
Remember, the king of Israel is not a very good king. Why on earth should he ask about Elisha who he was trying to kill sometime back.
Gehazi because of his greed has just been punished with leprosy forever.
Perfect timing when she comes back from the land of Philistines to settle back in Israel.
I was thinking of why was it that she was blessed with God's favour? All because she took that initial step for doing something for the Kingdom of God by hosting Elisha. Proactively she desired and her husband and she did what they desired  and that too without expecting anything back from God.
God is no one's debtor.

Luke:6:38 Give and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full, pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.

So dear one, give to God what you can give right now. Time, energy, passion, desire, ambition, choices, money career, children, possessions, assets. Give it all for His name's glory. Oh! You can be sure you will receive back - pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over. Yes dear one, and give without expecting to get back. When you give do not be apprehensive or skeptical. Would I miss on something? My peers - the adequacy and luxury they have. No, our God is able to restore dear ones, out of His immeasurable riches, he will pour out.

Joel:2:25 The Lord says, "I will give back to you what you lost".
Oh!dear one, if the Lord is on your side, who can be against you. 1Pet:5:10 Yes our sufferings are for a little while. He is our father. He will restore. He is our Abba. So rich in love and mercy. He looks with favour.

Why? - a short story

I have always been obedient to my father. Though sometimes it sounded illogical. Of late his demands are more irrational. I have seen him spending time praying. But now he is different. He travels around Judea and sometimes even to Israel to listen to this man Jesus. Some say He is a rebel. Some say He is the son of God the Messiah. I don't know. I haven't been religious. I like this part of the Ten Commandments which says if you want a long life, then honour your father and mother.  Ever since my mother passed away, my father had been lonely. They were in love. Never have I seen anyone love like this, even the newly weds. He had been gloomy for the past ten years. But now there is a smile in his face. He spends time in his room often, praying. Other times he is out to listen to this man. But there is joy in his face, that I know.  Today why did he ask me to go and collect water from the town? No idea. There are slave girls to do that. There is plenty of water here...

One more chance

Karun Nair, Indian cricketer was unduly kept away from Indian cricket team. Though he scored runs in international and domestic circuit. This was a viral post of his in 2022. After which he scored piles of runs in domestic circuit and in the IPL. Finally he was given a chance to represent team India again. Inspiring stuff. Give it one more chance. V:5 reaffirms by saying - No and I tell you again and again that unless you repent you will perish too. Sin is not something which a holy God can accommodate with. Luke:6:38 Many a times this verse is misinterpreted for giving, more precisely speaking, about money. But aren't we completely misguided? Jesus has not been talking about money at all here. It is about forgiveness that He talks about. It is about not judging. It is about not condemning. It is about our attitude and not about assets. Many a times we give importance to things which are not important to God. To forgive means to be forgiven. If you forgive, you will be forgiven to a greater extent. Both from man's side and from God's side. Jesus taught that in the Lord's prayer too. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. When we keep account of the wrongs done to us, remember that the wrongs done by us will be kept account of as well. Forgive just as God has forgiven. Do not judge. Do not condemn. Neighbour

Luke:10:29 Who is my neighbour? Through the story Jesus' answer to this question was very explicit.  Everyone is your neighbour. Anyone who is in need is your neighbour. Anyone who is spiritually, emotionally, physically in need, you should be fully available. Do you cross over to the other side? Showing you did not see. Are the other responsibilities standing in your way. Or are you freely available  Selling out yourself, your time, your energy, your money. Are you a good neighbour?

Pray

Ask and shall be given to you. Seek and you shall find. Knock and the door shall be opened to you. Luke 11:9 Pray. And that's it. The Father who loves you, won't He give what is best for you. Just like an earthly father wants to give the best for his child. Wouldn't the Heavenly Father do much more? Then why wouldn't we ask, seek and knock? Because we think we are self sufficient. We think we are comfortable in the way we are. It's because of pride that we are lazy to ask.  So just pray. Pray aloud. Pray silently. Pray with others. Pray alone. Pray without ceasing.
