The Altar is broken down

Elijah repaired the Altar of the Lord before offering the sacrifices.

What a joy it would have been to the Lord. After a long time, He is receiving the rightful worship. Amidst all the jargon and beating around the bush and shouting and crying, He should be now stooping down to Elijah after the correct preparation. God would want to listen to what Elijah was about to say.
Setting up the Altar is the rate limitting step in worship and prayer. I was thinking what is the Altar in our lives? Does it denote a particular place of worship, a destined place where you sit everyday to talk to Him? Does it denote a rightful attitude of awe and reverence as you worship? Does it denote repentance and reinstating with God, before submitting your supplications? Does it denote church (both the monument and the body of Christ)?
All these are really important. That is when my wife asked me: "What happens in the Altar?" (As we all agree; The wife is always right)
This triggered a thought process in me. What happens on the Altar is of utmost importance in Jewish worship. Sacrifice for the penalty of sin. That is the key to all of your worship and praise and prayers that are to be answered.
As we approach a holy God, sin has to be dealt within us. Within our hearts. Pardon for sin is the initiating act of worship. That is why Elijah repaired the Altar before worship or asking God to answer.
But for us, the broken down altar has been permanently restored right? The cross, has for life, dealt with my sin. But how often do I remember the Saviour dying on the cross instead of me?
Let me ask something. It is directed to me all the more. Within the past 24 hours, how often have we remembered the act on the cross? We are busy with submitting our supplications with praise and thanksgiving even worshipping and praising Him with songs, before repairing the Altar. Remembering the sacrifice that Jesus paid on the cross is the repairing that He desires. In our busyness, in our running around, we tend to forget what our Saviour has done. The essence of it all we tend to forget. Let us repair.

I can do nothing on my own.

I can do nothing on my own. Jn:5:30 This is not a statement of a helpless man. But of Jesus Himself. The Son of God. God Himself. This doesn't reflect His helpless state. But that, His will was so aligned with the will of the Father, that made Him say - I carry out the will of the one who sent me, not my will (later in the last part of the same verse). In the garden of Gethsamene, He echoes the same thought - not my will but Yours. Jesus knew that He had come to do the Father's will. Not His own. As I said, it was not out of helplessness. Infact He was so focussed that He did not want any other will. Anything apart from the will of the Father, He did not want. How tuned are you, to God's will in your life? Whether you eat or drink, do it for the glory of God. Anything apart from this is hamartos. Am I sensitive to the still small voice of the Holy Spirit? Distant destiny

It was so that the works of God might be displayed in him. Jn:9:3 Who do you reflect? Whose work do you display? Bitterness, hatred, lack of love, unforgiveness, lack of joy, displays the work of the enemy. Selfcenteredness, motive of self gain shows the character of devil. God's character do you display? Unconditional love, love those who hate you, loving your enemies, considering others better than yourself. These are far from us. Why?  We are still influenced by the world than the Word. We spend more time with the futile than the eternal. The Eternal God is still a distant destiny to be achieved, not a present reality to be indulged. Rivers of living water will flow from his heart. Jn:7:38 This promise is about those who are thirsty, and they come to Jesus. They can come to Him only as a result of two realisations. 1. That they are thirsty. 2. That (only) He can quench their thirst. And as a result, not only would they be satisfied, but they would be a channel of quenching for others, who desire to come to Him. Rivers of living water will flow from him. The Holy Spirit will overflow though him. Out of the filling that he has received Do I desire the quenching only Jesus can offer?  Do I desire the filling and overflowing of the Holy Spirit?  Do I become a channel of peace for others? Assurance

Jn:5:24 I tell you the truth, those who listen to my message and believe in God who sent me have eternal life. They will never be condemned for their sins, but they have passed from death into life. Once you believe in God through the Son, it is promised that you will have eternal life, you will never be condemned and you have passed from the death to the life.
