He who called will enable - short story

"Though it's drought and famine for long, our species has been blessed with much food. Even meat. We all are having pretty much, enough and more. Every day. We are lucky."
"It is not luck. It is God's provision. The Lord has been kind to us. Yes many of the other birds have died because of the famine. But we have been sustained."
"Oh! Again. I can't understand how you can say it is given by a God whom you have never seen. I wake up every early morning and strive hard to get the food for me and my family. How can you say it is a God who has given me."
"Dear, who can say that I have done it by my own might. Unless the Lord has given, how will we survive. You said our species has been blessed right? By whom? Shouldnt we also have died like the other birds or animals. Don't you think there are other birds who wake up early. Why, us Ravens alone was spared? I think there is a purpose that God wants with us. A plan that He has. Don't you think?"
"Hmm, that is true. May be there is a God. I can slightly understand what you are saying."
"Yeah good. May be we will talk about it later in the evening. It's time for me to fly."
"Yeah, i have been noticing that. Everyday after you have had your portion, I see that you take a large portion of meat and fly far away to some place. I don't know where you are up to. But i know you are taking it to someone far away. I know you are single and your parents have passed away. Who are you taking it to? Someone whom I know? Or is it someone that you have found to be worth this long flight? You know I have my family to provide. So i couldn't afford to follow you and see. Don't feel bad I noticed this. Infact all of us see it everyday "
"Ah! I know you all might have noticed this. But was not sure how to tell you all. One day i had a dream. An angel was telling me to take a large piece of meat everyday and fly this long distance to Kerieth Brook."
"What? You fly till Kerieth Brook? Oh my! That is quiet far. What is happening there. Who is there so significant that you would dare to?"
"Hold on let me complete. Yeah, so this angel tells me to fly till Kerieth Brook everyday to give meat to someone there."
"Who is that? And why everyday. I am pretty sure the large chunk of meat that you take, would suffice for a fowl, at least a family of it. Or a raven for a week. What is happening. Are you hiding someone. Oh sorry I interrupted. I got excited."
"I was also not very sure. But I felt urged to do this. So the first day I pick up a reasonable sized piece and started flying. Oh! Boy it was quiet tiring. I flew and flew. Wanted to sit in some branch or a piece of rock. But the excitement to know who it was pushed me along. Wanted to know who it was that the angel wanted to give. And meanwhile, i had my doubts too. Will there be someone. Will I be able to find it in the whole of the brook. Will it be a snake or something which was so hungry. That it would eat me instead of the meat. Is it just my thought. Will there actually be someone. Am i just a fool who risked everything because of the dream. Will I ever reach there. If I fall tired here. Will there be anyone to help me. If at all I reach there, where will I get some water. All the rivers in Israel is dried up. Will I have to fly back to find a cracked cistern to get atleast a drop of water. But something inside me urged me to keep flying. Something pushed me. After an hour of continuous flight, i finally got a glimpse of the brook. I was surprised as well as excited to see water flowing."
"Ah! So that's it. Fresh water every day. And you never told any of us. You are so mean. Ok; continue."
"It was not that which motivated me."
"Ok. Then what? What is it that you took the meat for?"
"From a distance i could see a man cuddled in the shade of drying up tree. Sitting in the banks of the brook."
"A man. Out of all species. You had got only a man? Who was it?"
"It was Elijah, the prophet."
"What? It's so ridiculous. Out of all species you got a man to provide for. And out of all men, you got this man who is responsible for all the famine? All of us are suffering because of this man. And he is enjoying there with meat everyday. I can't agree to this. If you were not my friend. I would have beaked you and killed you right now. Even now, I'm not sure whether I should tell it to our king."
"Please listen to me. The next day i had another dream. It was only light. But a very deep voice. Saying, "Mavi....., this is what I  want you to do. You have always sought me and lived with a thankful heart to me. I want you to provide for Elijah, everyday with meat and bread till i tell you." I had my own questions. Why me? Will I be able to do it everyday. I'm not very strong. What will others say. The voice continued, "Mavi, i love you and this is the purpose for you. Will you?" I replied, i am willing. And that is how I have been doing it all the more excited later own. Because the Prophet had no one else to talk to. So he would talk to me and tell more about this God. And tell about the reason for the famine. It is because of the sin of Israel. Not because Elijah was cruel. But Ahab and Jezbeel were leading Israel to further sin. Don't you see?"
"Hmm. I know you are a genuinely good raven. What you are saying, the puzzle is slowly getting unraveled. May be it is true. I hope Ahab and Jezbeel would repent and this famine would end. Would you ask the prophet?"
"He is the one who does the talking. I can only  understand. I will just listen. He teaches me to pray. May be we both can go together tomorrow. He will help us to pray to the God of Israel."
"Oh! Do you think i can fly that long? Will Elijah accept me? Will God accept? I'm not as holy as you, you know?"
"If it is God who has called. He will enable, Strugi. You are my best friend. You alone knows all my secrets. I am glad that you understood me."

That night Strugi went to sleep with lots of questions in his heart. Is Mavi crazy? Is he cooking up stories? Is he trying to trap me and take me to a vulture or something to kill me? Will he do like that? Slowly Strugi goes to oblivion but he was awakened by a very bright light and a deep voice calling his name, "Strugi............."

Boom - a poem

I am He. Jn:18:5 Three times, Jesus said, I am He. Three times He echoes the sound of Yahweh. And the third time all who heard Him,  Drew back and fell to the ground. No surround sound. No acoustic effect. Just the authority. Such power. The Creator, the Almighty, the All Powerful. The All knowing God. The Second of Trinity. This same Jesus. The same authenticity. Says to you in the midst of your turmoils. I am He. That's enough for your mountains to crumble. For He is your Maker. For He is your Husband. Therefore His words are trustworthy. Do not be afraid, I am with you. I have plans to prosper you. I am on your side. I will fight for you. Your enemies therefore will flee, No matter how powerful they are. Be it the strongest men on earth. Or a powerful demon against you. Every knee shall bow, when He says, I am He. Don't you dare touch my child. He is mine, He proclaims. He declares, not whispers. That is enough, my dear one. Death could not restrict Him. Grave co...

Encourage

Barnabas, the word means son of encouragement. His quality of encouragement is seen in bringing up of Paul. When all believers in Jerusalem were afraid of Saul, when no one believed that he had truly become a believer, it was Barnabas who took him to the apostles. Being an encourager is a tough job. It needs discernment. It needs wisdom. It needs courage. You should not be affected by your mood. You need to be open. But an encouragement can do a lot to benefit a person's life. It might transform a Saul to a Paul. If Barnabas had not taken an initiative to help him, where would have Saul been? It was because of this, that Saul stayed with the apostles(v:28). Warming himself

Why do I fall in sin? I am not a desperate rebel who looks for ways to sin. I as a child of holy God, do hate sin. Yes my heart is inclined to sin, because of my fallen nature. But deep down inside, I am now a new creation. The old has gone, the new has come. But still, sometimes I stumble and fall. Forgetting my master's cruel death, a penalty for my sin. Why? As Paul says, I do things which I hate to do. I end up doing things which I don't want to do. Why? Peter, though He was warned, fell for it because he was warming himself, instead of being close to the presence of Jesus. David fell for it, because he was in the terrace at the time when he was supposed to be in war. Pharaoh's heart was hardened, because he hardened his heart first. Lot slowly drifted away, because of the subtle compromises he made. Be not, where you are expected not to be. Do no things which you are not expected to do. Do not start a chain of events which will lead you further to sin. If y...

The Seven

Acts:6:1-7 The seven men were selected for distributing food for the widows. But these seven were chosen as those who were well reported and full of the Spirit and wisdom. Such a menial job, but such high qualification. One of them, Stephen, has been described as man full of faith and the Holy Spirit. No job is menial. You might be the church choir leader or the one who preaches. Or you might be the least important person in the choir. Or you might be the one who wipes clean the chairs. In God's eyes both are the same, whether you do it faithfully and with thankfulness - that is what matters. That makes it even more significant. Each job has its own value. Each job entrusted to you is important. Whether you are a student or a teacher, a doctor or an engineer or a daily wages worker, do it as if you are doing it for God. It has to be impeccable. Give your best shot. Do it with full heart. Image courtesy: https://www.thekitchn.com/how-to-maintain-a-wooden-dining-table-165...

The realm which we can't see yet can be believed

Acts:2:1-13 It is often common to see, when there is a manifestation of the power of the Holy Spirit, it is being misinterpreted with logical reasoning. The first manifestation of the coming of the Holy Spirit was people speaking in tongues and it was misinterpreted as drunkenness. Whether it is really true healing? Whether it is a gimmick? Whether we can give a more logical explanation to it than divine intervention? Why can't my futile human brain accept the fact that God can work in unnatural ways (which is natural for Him). Why do I trust in things which I see alone? I am not saying, you should believe in every such things that happen as divine intervention. Discernment, the Spirit Himself will give. The Holy Spirit is alive. He is God. His manifestations are real. We should be aware and we should believe that there is another realm which is difficult for us to comprehend, but not infeasible to believe. Beautiful - a poem

Beautiful gate had no beauty It was dull, dismal and colourless All I could see was my lame legs And the skin and bones that is left of them. I knew every stone in the gate Every stain on the gate The contrast was obvious Lacklustre was the Beautiful gate. My eye level caught strong legs walk by The muscles that bulged out in the calves of men The smooth skin of the legs of women Mine was brute, cold and lifeless. Then two men came by First time I remember, I saw face of men First time I remember, a man looking at me eagerly I looked at them intently, expecting. But they disappointed me first Gold or silver, I do not have ,he said Dullness blanketed yet again Ashen laden was still mine eyes. In the name of Jesus of Nazareth, walk A jolt from somewhere, filled me. My very own eyes saw it as it progressed Something which I dreamt, but couldn't believe. The thigh muscles, the calves - as I desired My bones felt strength within The skin was dry, now it is shining From icthy...

Forgive

Jn:20:22 Then He breathed on them and said, Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive anyone's sins, they are forgiven. If you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven. The Holy Spirit helps you to forgive. If you forgive, they are forgiven indeed. If you do not forgive, then they are not. What a serious footing? Am I the reason why my brother stands unforgiven? What about my family? My own friends? Do they stand guilty because of me? Yes it's true, that ultimately when they stand before God, it is whether they have sought forgiveness from God themselves that matters. But have I forgiven? You might not have been able to forget the injustice done to you. The lack of love. But the Holy Spirit will enable you to forgive. Forgiveness is so important that in the Lord's prayer He highlights - Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. If you want to be forgiven, you have to forgive. Do you want to stand before the Lord guilty or forgiven? Do you want ...
