Knowing God's will

I have always found it imperative to ask the Lord during taking major decisions in my life.
I remember the time before our marriage was the time I prayed the most. Asking God _ Is she the one?
Regarding pursuit of my career.
Regarding the school my children would go.

Any major decisions in our life has always been linked to asking God - Lord what's your will? I believe we all have fasted and prayed for atleast one thing in our lives - to take the correct decision, to know what's best for us. Because that was the most important thing for us then.
How to know God's will is one of the most common querries that come up in any Q & A session.
And the urgency is because you feel-
What if I lose this golden opportunity?
What if someone else comes in my place?
If I do not do this now, according to God's will, will I suffer later in my life?
Will God punish me by letting me be unsuccessful in my life, if I do not say yes to this now?
Be it marriage or career or anything major.

Yes, decision making is extremely important in out lives and including God in that rather than trusting your desire or logic and rationale is even more better.
Israelites were in the same scenario in the wilderness. The cloud lifts up, they move. The cloud settles, they set up the camp.
Everyday the children of Israel would eagerly look at the pillar of the cloud ☁️ -
They were travelling or camping infact at the Lord's commands.
Few practical guidelines.

#1. It is not you who guide. It is the Lord.
It is not you who decide.
The Lord has plans to prosper you, not to harm you. Jer:29:11

#2. His plans to prosper you is not bring you fame or success, but to bring glory to His name. Jesus delayed His going to Bethany even when Lazarus was sick, inorder that His name will be glorified later.

#3. Isa:14:27. For the Lord Almighty has purposed and who can thwart Him?
So if it is God's will for you to pursue this course, who can foil it? There is no fear of losing out or fear of being overtaken.
Rom:8:31 if God be for us, who can be against us?

#4. And now if it goes away - it simply means, that's not God's will for you.
Rom:8:28 All things God works for good for those who love Him and are called according to his purpose.

To sum it up all. I just wanted to say. The Lord will guide for His name's sake. Do not worry

    Thanks for sharing. I believe these thoughts also help us when we review our decisions in retrospect. It encourages us when we think of how God’s will worked out for us when we made those choices. It strengthens our faith in a God who is guiding us for His names sake. Praise God. :)

      Yes indeed Steffi. The post was becoming longer. There are much more to jot down. Retrospectively reminescing is when we get the idea of the big picture, which He already had in His mind. That's when we realize. We don't have a clue of what's happening and all we can do is to just put our trust in Him.

    Thanks for that reminder. Like someone said, we’re not that powerful enough to foil God’s plan for our lives. Keeping our eyes on Him is all that really matters.

    Well put Amith and brings clarity to the whole struggle people have about "knowing God's will"..
    As a loving Father, it is His desire and joy to show and lead us in His will... we don't have to strive or struggle!

Heb:11:19 Abraham reasoned that God could raise the dead and figuratively speaking, he did receive Isaac back from death. Who said Christian life is unreasonable? Abraham and Sarah. #faith5

Heb:11:8. By faith Abraham obeyed . And it was complete obedience. Despite the uncertainties around him, he still obeyed. That was out of faith in Him who called him. Faith brings forth absolute obedience. By faith you are able to keep aside that habit, because you know that hurts your love, your husband. By faith you are able to say no to things which allured you before. By faith you are able to say yes to things which God asks you to do, eventhough it looks foolish according to the world. 'Come Enoch let's walk'. Enoch thought that would be just like any other day. Walking with God. But that day was different somehow. He didn't know why. Everything around him was joyous. The smile was even more radiant in God's face. He couldn't understand when the wind whispered in his ear, you're going home. But joy was definitely bubbling in his heart too. He didn't know why. Yards turned to miles. Sand became rocks. But the talking and fun wouldn't cease. Then at the top of some mountain they reached. He said, come lets go home with a radiant smile. Heb:11:20-21 When things were still unseen, they blessed their children. Looking forward positively when things were blurry, when things were uncertain, when future looks bleak, Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau; Jacob blessed Joseph's son's. Isa:54:13. All your children will be taught by the Lord and great will be their peace. Psalm:127:3. Children are a heritage from the Lord. Psalm:128:3. Children will be like olive shoots around your table. It is the Almighty, Sovereign God who promised this and He will not lie.

Seated on the right hand side of God

Heb:8:1 The Son who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven. The Son is eligible. The Son is worthy. He is equal in character and essence and existence as the Father. In Him and through Him and by Him all things were created and all things sustained. Ruler. Supreme authority. The Son. The Lamb who was slain for the salvation of man, humbled Himself to the death on a cross to redeem mankind. He alone is worthy to sit on the right hand side of throne. Lazy

We do not want you to become lazy but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised. Heb:6:12 Being lazy in faith is a dangerous thing - not actively working out the salvation you have freely received by grace. Not actively doing things because you are saved. Continuing on things which once entertained you. May be harmless things. But it quenches the Spirit in you. Not feeding on the right things, so then the new man is stunted; and feeding on the world's things so then the old man is still allowed to grow.. Forgetting the fact that the old man is dead. Proactively do things out of your faith. So that you will inherit what has been promised. Are you lazy in applying your faith in testing times? Are you lazy in spending time with the Word of God? Are you lazy in praying and fasting? Then it would be hard to inherit what has been promised.
