Knowing God's will

I have always found it imperative to ask the Lord during taking major decisions in my life.
I remember the time before our marriage was the time I prayed the most. Asking God _ Is she the one?
Regarding pursuit of my career.
Regarding the school my children would go.

Any major decisions in our life has always been linked to asking God - Lord what's your will? I believe we all have fasted and prayed for atleast one thing in our lives - to take the correct decision, to know what's best for us. Because that was the most important thing for us then.
How to know God's will is one of the most common querries that come up in any Q & A session.
And the urgency is because you feel-
What if I lose this golden opportunity?
What if someone else comes in my place?
If I do not do this now, according to God's will, will I suffer later in my life?
Will God punish me by letting me be unsuccessful in my life, if I do not say yes to this now?
Be it marriage or career or anything major.

Yes, decision making is extremely important in out lives and including God in that rather than trusting your desire or logic and rationale is even more better.
Israelites were in the same scenario in the wilderness. The cloud lifts up, they move. The cloud settles, they set up the camp.
Everyday the children of Israel would eagerly look at the pillar of the cloud ☁️ -
They were travelling or camping infact at the Lord's commands.
Few practical guidelines.

#1. It is not you who guide. It is the Lord.
It is not you who decide.
The Lord has plans to prosper you, not to harm you. Jer:29:11

#2. His plans to prosper you is not bring you fame or success, but to bring glory to His name. Jesus delayed His going to Bethany even when Lazarus was sick, inorder that His name will be glorified later.

#3. Isa:14:27. For the Lord Almighty has purposed and who can thwart Him?
So if it is God's will for you to pursue this course, who can foil it? There is no fear of losing out or fear of being overtaken.
Rom:8:31 if God be for us, who can be against us?

#4. And now if it goes away - it simply means, that's not God's will for you.
Rom:8:28 All things God works for good for those who love Him and are called according to his purpose.

To sum it up all. I just wanted to say. The Lord will guide for His name's sake. Do not worry

    Thanks for sharing. I believe these thoughts also help us when we review our decisions in retrospect. It encourages us when we think of how God’s will worked out for us when we made those choices. It strengthens our faith in a God who is guiding us for His names sake. Praise God. :)

      Yes indeed Steffi. The post was becoming longer. There are much more to jot down. Retrospectively reminescing is when we get the idea of the big picture, which He already had in His mind. That's when we realize. We don't have a clue of what's happening and all we can do is to just put our trust in Him.

    Thanks for that reminder. Like someone said, we’re not that powerful enough to foil God’s plan for our lives. Keeping our eyes on Him is all that really matters.

    Well put Amith and brings clarity to the whole struggle people have about "knowing God's will"..
    As a loving Father, it is His desire and joy to show and lead us in His will... we don't have to strive or struggle!

Not disappointed

Whoever believes in Him will not be disappointed.  Rom:10:11 Not in this world. Nor in the world to come.  Not that all your desires will be satisfied. Nor that all your dreams will come true and therefore you will be satisfied. It is about a satisfaction of knowing God. For that has been man's unending desire. A peace that all is good. Because my Father is in control. A contentment that I am safe in my God's hand and a surity that nothing can separate me from the love of God in Christ Jesus. Even if darkness looms all around you, even if everything around you is a ruckus turned topsy turvy. You know who holds your hand. You are satisfied in Him. He has satisfied you. He is all you need. Merry Christmas

Love your neighbour

He who loves his neighbour has fulfilled the law. Rom:13:8 Love is the core of everything. He who loves his neighbour will not do him/her any harm. No adultery  No murder. No stealing. No coveting. All of the law is summed up in this. The good Samaritan's story tells us whom to love and to what extend to love. Prayer:  Father God, help me to love as you have loved me. Alien I was to you, but you still loved me. Rebel as I was, you loved me still. Help me to love others with no conditions. Transformed

Transformed by the renewing of your mind. Rom:12:2 Many strive to be good. Being good to the society out of obligation or out of selfish interests. But those are all not being good, it is doing or showing good. For inherantly the heart is deceitful. True change has to come from within. If I am showing goodness to someone out of anything apart from love, that's showing, not being. True transformation has to happen by the renewing of mind - a change of mindset. That only the Holy Spirit can do. Here the transformation desired by God is even bigger. The transformation told here is not to be a better human. It is into the likeness of the Son. God's good and acceptable and perfect will is not that you would be a good man or woman, but to be like the Son. By a total change in approach of your mind. Unfathomable His ways. Rom:11:33 His ways are higher than your ways. With the limited knowledge and finite wisdom that you have, you take decisions. But letting it into the hands of the infinite God of unsearchable wisdom and unlimited knowledge is easier. For He loves you. His plans are to prosper you and not to harm you.
