The Lord loves Israel. He has given them umpteen chances. Pardon and forgiveness. Opportunities after opportunities.
Does God love Israel with partiality?
Why does not God love the other nations like Israel? Why doesn't He extend His arm of forgiveness to the nation's surrounding Israel? Why doesn't He give them an option to come to Him?
Jer:12:14-16
Now this is what the Lord says, "I will uproot from their land all the evil nations reaching out for the possession I gave my people Israel. And I will uproot Judah from among them. But afterward, I will return and have compassion on all of them. I will bring them home to their own lands again each nation to it's own possession. And if these nations truly learn the ways of my people and if they learn to swear by my name saying, As surely as the Lord lives (just as they taught my people to swear by the name of Baal), then they will be given a place among my people.
At the last moment. When the axe is about to cut the root.
The last moment; the option is given to the bard. The punishment has been permanently weaned off.
'Sir, give it one more chance. Leave it another year and I will give it special attention and plenty of fertilizer. If we get figs next year, fine. If not, then you can cut it down.
Yes, I'm chosen to be forgiven from nowhere. From absolute rebellion, I'm called to His bosom. I'm enthralled. I'm grateful.
The axe is still on my root. Because He is a Sovereign God who abhors sin. That nature is still in me to walk away. To rebel. To pollute. To seek my own self. The axe is due to cut. But Jesus intercedes. Give one more chance. If at all, the bard bears fruit. If at all he repents of his ways.
Everyday is a second chance. Everyday is an answer to Jesus' prayer to the Father - if at all. And the only desirable fruit is the fruit of repentance, the fruit of return. Or else it's 'Cut it down'
