The Bible is God's story of redemption of mankind through a set of people called Israel. It describes their choice, their obedience, their disobedience, their rebellion, their being rejected and they rejecting.
Does that mean God is concerned about Israel alone? Does that mean God shows favouritism to these set of people? That He will forgive all their sins based on their obedience and faith of their forefathers?
There were other set of people right? In the Bible itself - the Edomites, the Amorites, the Egyptians, the Moabites. Why in the Bible God talks about punishing and killing and removing these guys for the sake of Israel? Why is Israel so special to God?
As I said already - Bible is a book centered around Israel. Just as Harry Potter series is the story about Harry Potter and not about Ron Weasley or Hermione Granger. For their stories we need other spin offs.
But still in the Bible we see these other guys also being blessed or punished. Israel also. God is not concerned about one set of people alone. It could have very well been anybody else. But God chose. That's His Sovereignty. So Bible saying about Israel being loved is not being shown favouritism, but the promise that He gave their father Abraham. Blessed to be a blessing.
In that there is love. In that there is discipline. In that there is sin and punishment. In that there is bringing back. In that there is repentance. In that there is the cross.
So independently if we take the story of Edomites or Moabites or Amorites, the story would be the same. God loves. They reject. God gives opportunities. Those who accept will be saved. Those who reject, not.
So is our story too - yours and mine. God loves. He communicates. Born in sin we might accept or reject Him. Jesus the Son of God. Who came to die to save. What you do with this truth in your personal life determines your destiny. Not here alone on this earth. But forever and ever and ever and ever.
