How's it even possible? Short story

How is it even possible? Mary is not of that type. I know she loves me. Her love to me has no boundaries. Unconditionally she loves me. Through her love only I came to know how much more my Father in heaven loves me. She cares for me. She forgives me without keeping a list. She loves her God too. She fears her Father. She would never commit this sin because I know her completely like no one else does. I know for sure, more than she loves me, she loves her God. She hopes for the Messiah. She would never commit this wretched sin. She knows the consequences. Not out of the fear of consequences, but out of her love to God, she would never do this. I'm sure.
But who would believe me? She is pregnant. The fact remains a truth. It's disgrace for me. It's disgrace for my family. She says she had a vision. How could someone be pregnant by just a vision. She might be true, I know her. She wouldn't lie. But how am I supposed to believe this? What will my friends tell of me? What will they tell of her? What will they tell of the child? What will they tell of our family? How will we live?
Moreover I'm supposed to obey my God too, I fear God. His law says that this is a rightful reason to divorce. But the truth is my love to her and my concern for her doesn't allow me. How will she live further, especially with the baby. I'm perplexed between my love for my God and my love for her.
I don't have so much faith as her. I don't think I love God as much as she does. But I do fear God. I don't want to do something which is wrong in His eyes. And the teachers of the law would also be angry, they would probably oust us from the temple. God I pray tell me what to do. I don't know what you have in your mind. Should I marry her still? My heart wants to do that. But my mind doesn't allow me. Will you be angry with me?
Mary is seemingly at peace. Especially after her visit to her relative Elizabeth. That is a totally different story. Old as they are, Zechariah and Elizabeth are waiting to be parents. It's a miracle. But how can you call our situation a miracle. I don't understand.
I'm totally out of mind. I can't sleep. I find myself walking in the night outside my home. I can't concentrate on my work. There is a lot of pending work. The construction of the new home is also pending. I can't eat properly. My whole life has turned upside down. Is it because of any particular sin that I did as a young adult? Did I hurt you Lord so badly? Is there any way out of this? Forgive me Lord for the sins I have done against you, in my mind, in my words and deeds.
My bed is wet with my tears. The night goes like this for me. I cry. I pray. I talk to God. I walk. Doze off. But sleep has gone of from my eyes. Gradually I slip to oblivion. But I woke up with such a bright light in my new room. So bright it was difficult to keep my eyes open. But still I could make out a silhouette of a being on the place which is supposed to be our wedding bed.
"Joseph" I heard a loud and powerful voice. I got startled. Who calls me in the middle of the night? The thought itself kept me wide awake.

“Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”

Is it true? I asked myself. How am I supposed to do all these? I had all my questions listed in my mind now. I'm sure I never told it aloud. But the being replied. Joseph don't you remember the prophet saying, “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).

Wait. According to what I remember, this is told of the Messiah. So does it mean Mary is having a child in her that is God incarnate?
That means it's not because of my sins or hers that we are supposed to go through this. But because we are chosen. I'm overwhelmed. Still I continue to cry. But this time with a different emotion. With awe and thankfulness.
In a short while Mary will have a child who is God Himself. What will she do? What will the helpless child do? So this is what I will do. I will be her husband. I will marry her. I will be the child's father. I will be their world. I will do this because I love her. Because I love my God. And because I love my child who is in her womb. This is a huge privilege. Am I worthy? This is a huge responsibility. Will I be able to fulfill it?

Whatever it is in stalk for us in the future. I will obey the God who called us as a family. The religious leaders might not understand us. My friends or my family might not understand me. But I will still do it. Because my God wants me to do this and the Messiah is going to be raised by us.

Family

Eph:5:22 - 6:4 Wives submit to your husbands as the church submitted to Christ. Husband's love your wives as Christ loved the church.  Children obey your parents in the Lord  Father's, do not exasperate your children. Unless God is in the centre of your family. There is no hope. You can do all these things without being Christ centred. You can be good parents, good husbands, good wives and good children. But to reach the fullness of the purpose of your life, Christ has to be in the center of all relationships. Pray. Obey the word precisely. Teach and discuss God's word. Family prayer. Family Bible studies. Without these you can definitely be a good family. But will not be the epitome that God has planned. Be a musician

Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord. Eph:5:19 Not everyone is a musician. Oh! I can't sing well. I am not musically oriented as others. My voice is croaky and I can't hit those notes. I don't know how to sing. These are comments we often hear. But God is not looking for a performance or a concert. It is in fact a command to be obeyed - sing and make music in your heart to the Lord - not to singers and musicians alone. But to all. Songs are prayers. Hymns are words of praise. Not that the tune is unimportant. But the words communicate more. V:19 starts with, speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs .   Col:3:19. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. It is a time of pondering the word of Christ. It is an expression of gratitude to God.  It is an act of worship. So even if you are not incli...

Grace. Mercy. Kindness. Love

Eph:2:1-9 Dead. Dead in our transgressions and sins. Disobedient. Gratifying the cravings of the sinful nature. Under the ruler of the kingdom of air. Made alive. By Grace - incomparable riches of His grace. From objects of wrath - made alive with Christ - seated us with Him - in heavenly realms in Christ Jesus. By a God rich in mercy . Grace expressed in kindness to us in Christ Jesus. Because of His great love for us. Stumbling block

Eph:4:2-3 How do I live my life worthy of my calling? - be completely humble. What is there to be proud? When you remember from where you have been saved. Knowing that whatever you have is a gift, that you do not deserve. Knowing that you are an inherent rebel, a wretch, saved by Grace. - gentle. Gentleness comes out of humility. Arrogance and rudeness comes out of pride. Moses was meek enough to write that he was the meekest man ever lived on earth. - patient. Impatience again comes out of a feeling that you are somebody, which you are not. Patience accomodates because of love. Patience gives yet another opportunity, despite not deserving it. - bearing one another in love. Loving the other person will solve most of our problems in relationships. But we can't manufacture love. We can't force ourselves to love. All we can do is to ask Him, the source of all love to fill us with His love. The more we ponder upon His love, the more we imbibe His love. Humble ourselves ...

Able

Eph:3:20 Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine according to His power that is at work within us. If this is true, then why do I live a life full of concerns and fears about the uncertainties of the future. Of the things which are out of my control. He has got it under control, because He has created it. Then worry is disrespectful. Because He is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine according to His power. Pour out your fears to the Solid Rock. Vocalize it. He will take care for sure, for He cares. Trust Him. Firmly believe that He is enough. Lean not on your own understanding. Find your security in your Father who is able. 'Able' covers everything. Able is enough. Able is security. Able is satisfying to the core. He is able, more than able, to accomplish what concerns me today He is able, more than able, to handle anything that comes me way, He is able, more than able, to do much more than I could ever dream, He...

Holy Spirit

Having believed, you were marked in Him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession. Eph:1:13-14 The process starts with belief. Once you believe, you are marked ( infact you were marked - past tense. That in itself is another writing). Marked with a seal ie. the promised Holy Spirit. Seal is something which denotes ownership or belonging. The Lord's possession are we (v:14). His precious property. He has put His seal of affirmation upon us, so that the devil cannot lay claim. The presence of the Holy Spirit in your life is the evidence , the guarantee that you belong to Him. Is the Holy Spirit active in your life? Are you receptive and responsive to the nudgings of the third person of Trinity? The Holy Spirit of God. How serious am I about the presence of this Holy One in my life? As a friend. As an Advocate. Who influences my conscience, who shows the correct path. Who ...

Tossed

Then we will no longer be infants tossed back and forth by the waves. Eph:4:13 It is infants who are tossed by the waves. Mature people stand on solid rock. In faith they are strong. They shall not be affected by the things that will disturb them. Rock solid they stand. They hold fast to the One who called them. They are sure of the One who called them. They are sure of the One who is in their boat with them, who says, 'Be still' to their tumultuous situation. They believe, no matter what. There is their Father who works all things for their good. It is a matter of trusting Him who is with you. It is about the surity of Him who called you. Because He lives, I can face tomorrow. Because He lives, all fear is gone. Because I know, He holds the future. And life is worth the loving, just because He lives.
