Ps:140:6-7
I said to the Lord you are my God
Listen O Lord to my cries for mercy
O Sovereign Lord, the strong One who rescued me
You protected me on the day of the battle.
As David writes this psalm, as he cries for mercy from the throne of grace, it is through suffering he goes. When he helplessly look into the heavens for deliverance by the hand of God.
Yet in the midst of all troubles; he remembers how God the Almighty has delivered him in the past. How He has rescued him. This has been the hallmark of David's faith. To remember in the midst of troubles, how the Almighty gracious Father has delivered him in the past. That has always given him the courage and strength to face these troubles at present.
And therefore, Goliath was not as big as the bear or the lion. He knew for sure that Shimei was cursing him, because God has allowed him. He did not dare to touch Saul, his enemy because he was still God's chosen one.
Whatever the situation he was in, he was sure that God was in control. And he was sure that nothing happened without God's foreknowledge. There is nothing which His God cannot handle. Amen.
