You alone - Poem


Based on King Hezekiah's prayer after he received a letter from the messengers of King Sennacherib of Assyria. 2Kings:19:14-19

You are not a God who is confined
Is anything difficult for you; is anything impossible?
All you ask is that we would come to you
When all aides fail; when all helps cease
You alone are God; Help me Lord.

You are not a God, whose identity is a figure
Wooden or golden or metallic, who is limited.
Yet a person: who has an image and likeness
A God who is in favour of those who love Him
You alone are God; not abstract

You are not a god, created by imaginations
Created by necessity of a supreme being that can surpass all
A superhero, created by man's fantasy to rescue him
You are God; always existing; Alpha and Omega
You alone are God; Almighty All powerful

You are not a god, like the shifting sands
Who has a standard today, something else tomorrow
Says something today, and then a different one tomorrow
Who compromises; who has favourites
You alone are God; unchangeable.

You are not a god of fury; but a God of justice
Not a god of compromise; but a God of holiness
Not a god of anger; but a God of love
Not a god of inconsistency; but God unshakable
You alone are God; true to Yourself

You are not a god who would find pleasure in misery
Self torture or agony; for You created me in your image
Fills you with hope of reuniting with Him; your destiny
Has called to bless you; with plans to prosper
You alone are God; so rich in love

You alone are the living God; rest are all worthless idols
You alone are worthy of all praise; coz you walked the talk
You alone are worthy of all my worship
For You alone have done the redemptive act
To bring us back to your bosom; where we are destined to be
You did not order - do this or do that to attain
But you showed what needs to be done. Showed the way for you are the way
You took the first step;  infact you took the only step
All we had to do was to acknowledge You alone are God
And thence be inducted to the eternal family; of fellowship with the Triune God.

Stumbling block

Eph:4:2-3 How do I live my life worthy of my calling? - be completely humble. What is there to be proud? When you remember from where you have been saved. Knowing that whatever you have is a gift, that you do not deserve. Knowing that you are an inherent rebel, a wretch, saved by Grace. - gentle. Gentleness comes out of humility. Arrogance and rudeness comes out of pride. Moses was meek enough to write that he was the meekest man ever lived on earth. - patient. Impatience again comes out of a feeling that you are somebody, which you are not. Patience accomodates because of love. Patience gives yet another opportunity, despite not deserving it. - bearing one another in love. Loving the other person will solve most of our problems in relationships. But we can't manufacture love. We can't force ourselves to love. All we can do is to ask Him, the source of all love to fill us with His love. Be a musician

Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord. Eph:5:19 Not everyone is a musician. Oh! I can't sing well. I am not musically oriented as others. My voice is croaky and I can't hit those notes. I don't know how to sing. These are comments we often hear. But God is not looking for a performance or a concert. It is in fact a command to be obeyed - sing and make music in your heart to the Lord - not to singers and musicians alone. But to all. Songs are prayers. Hymns are words of praise. Not that the tune is unimportant. But the words communicate more. V:19 starts with, speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs .   Col:3:19. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. Able

Eph:3:20 Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine according to His power that is at work within us. If this is true, then why do I live a life full of concerns and fears about the uncertainties of the future. Of the things which are out of my control. He has got it under control, because He has created it. Then worry is disrespectful. Because He is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine according to His power. Pour out your fears to the Solid Rock. Vocalize it. He will take care for sure, for He cares. Trust Him. Firmly believe that He is enough. Lean not on your own understanding. Find your security in your Father who is able. 'Able' covers everything. Able is enough. Able is security. Able is satisfying to the core. Holy Spirit

Having believed, you were marked in Him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession. Eph:1:13-14 The process starts with belief. Once you believe, you are marked ( infact you were marked - past tense. That in itself is another writing). Marked with a seal ie. the promised Holy Spirit. Seal is something which denotes ownership or belonging. The Lord's possession are we (v:14). His precious property. He has put His seal of affirmation upon us, so that the devil cannot lay claim. The presence of the Holy Spirit in your life is the evidence , the guarantee that you belong to Him. Is the Holy Spirit active in your life? Are you receptive and responsive to the nudgings of the third person of Trinity? The Holy Spirit of God. Made known

Eph:1:9 He made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Christ. He is not a stingy God, that He would want us to force open His closed fist and find out what He has hidden from us. But His will, He is willing to reveal to us according to His good pleasure, that He purposed through Jesus Christ. A loving Father, willing to reveal His mysterious will, out of His love to one rebellious son. The son is still rebellious, but the Father is willing. The Father's love allures, but the son is still allieanated. But still the Father is willing to reveal. Not forced out of compulsion. Not forced out of obligation. But forced out of love to the rebellious son. Fully out of good pleasure. Which father would do that, but for the unending eternal source of love. He is love. That is why He is able to do it.
