I really do not know what do calves have to do with Israelites. Whenever they decide to make idols, it is in the shape of calves-
At the foot of Mount Sinai.
Jeroboam, the first northern king wants to establish his kingdom, he builds two golden calves.
These are two instances.
They could have thought of the image of a tiger or a camel or a lion or anything else. But it's always calves.
On all other occasions when they look around they worshipped other gods of the nations around. But when they had the temptation to build a god of their own, it was always calves.
The devil keeps bringing that one particular thing over and over again. Beware.
Something which you have struggled. Yet overcame. Yet the devil brings your weak point again and again.
But he doesn't know the truth. Do you know the truth? It might be a weakness for you. But the One in you has claimed victory over it all. Through Him, we have been victorious. Unless we believe and cling on to this, how will we claim victory?
At the foot of the cross, all these recurrent struggles and weakpoints have been overcome once and for all. There is no need for you to keep on struggling. Victory is mine if I believe. Through the blood of the Lamb.
Calves need not and will not come back again. Neither in your life, nor in your children's lives. Curses and struggles do not run in families. All bondages are broken in Jesus' name.
Be it depression, sexual struggles, anger, any obvious curses or sicknesses that run for generations - Praise God, Jesus has dealt with it all.
When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, 14 having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross. 15 And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross. Colossians 2:13-15 (NIV)
