What does the Lord require of you?


Moses narrates their own story of rebellion to God, God's anger, later how God chose to forgive them, love them and care for them and how God has been faithful to Himself in taking Israel through to the promised land.
He now asks Israel a question. Deutr:10:12. What does the Lord your God require of you?
He lists - Fear the Lord
                Live in a way that pleases Him
                Love Him
                Serve Him with all your heart and soul
                Obey the Lord's commands and decrees
V:17 For the Lord your God is the God of gods and the Lord of Lords. He is the great God, the mighty and awesome God.

So is He like that rich orphan kid who needs love and friendship?
Not at all. He is not so bereft of love that He needs us to fill that gap. He is the God of love that loves you and because He is faithful to His own self He continues to forgive. He continues to fulfil the promise of being with us forever even now.
V:16 Therefore change your heart's and stop being stubborn. 
Your heart had been misled and had been erroneous in your thinking about God.
Where has been your loyalty dear one? Do you want this God so that all would go well with you in your life?
It's like selective blindness. God awaits for you with open heart and we look at His hands alone.
Following God for this world alone is trying to cheat God. Dear one, all He requires is your heart focussed on Him. To become like David - a man after God's own heart. Like David we might also sin. But to run back to Him with a contrite heart. And when we are blessed, not to think too much of it and be proud, but to have an attitude of gratitude to the One who gave it. And if we did not get what we desired, to trust in His time and yet be thankful to the One who has promised plans to prosper us.
He has desired for an ongoing lively relation with you dear one. He loves you. And His heart yearns for you. Will you choose not to be stubborn and love Him with all your heart and soul?

To have a gentle and quiet spirit, is an incomparable unfading inner beauty. The real beauty is not your outwardly appearance. Real beauty is your inner spirit - to be gentle and quiet. The Revelation

Revelation is often considered a difficult book to understand. A book which you often can't make head or tail of. Full of prophecies about what is about to happen. How do you interpret it in the present scenario. Who is antichrist. Where is a loving God in this? Unanswered questions all around. But here is a promise. Rev:1:3 Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophesy and blessed are those who hear it and take it to heart what is written in it, because the time is near. The attempt is not to give full answers to all your questions. The attempt is to read and hear and believe, so that we would all be blessed. Because the time is very short. Read and hear and believe. Eternal life

What is eternal life? 1 John:2:24-25 See that what you have heard from the beginning remains in you. If it does, you also will remain in the Son and in the Father. And this is what He promised us - even eternal life. The Triune God remaining in you and you in Him, is eternal life.  John:17:3  - Now this is eternal life. That they may know you, the only true God and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent Eternal life is not something you will receive on the other side of death. Golden streets, the river that will continue to flow without being dried up, fruits on trees in all season. Eternal life is now. It is knowing Him and remaining in Him. Life in all its abundance. Giving is better than getting

Do not love the world, nor the things in the world. 1John:2:15 If you love the world, then the love of the Father is not in you. Anything of this world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, the pride of life, these are the things that you can summarise about the world. These are not of the Father. If you have these, it is evident that the love of the Father is not in you. The cravings of your body, the second look that you look, the boasts of your life, are against the Spirit who is in you. Do not be surprised

Do not be surprised my brothers, if the world hates you.  1 John:3:13 No element of surprise. Expect the worst. Expect hatred. Expect no love. Then you won't be surprised. Because the world hated Jesus first. The world. Not directed to people. The system. We are enemies of the evil one.  So naturally the principalities of this world will fight. Hate.
