I have wondered why God had punished the Israelites alone for the sin they committed in Num:25. After all it was the Midianites who seduced them to sin, and why did they go unpunished. Does God punish only Israelites because they are chosen people?
We often tell this to our children _ we discipline or punish because we love you.
But we need to understand this aspect of God - That He is Sovereign. He loves us all and No sin goes unpunished.
His justice reigns over all.
We see the punishment to the Midianites who allured the Israelites to worship baal of Peor in Num:31
The Lord is Sovereign - He possesses all authority and supreme power. And sin is something which He abhors. Out of His sovereign power He will judge sin in everyone's life.
Sometimes I think others are not being punished or disciplined the way I am. Children always compare between themselves regarding disciplining. But the Lord will never let any sin go unpunished.
"Sinners will have no place among the godly"
Sin is something he hates. It's so serious for Him, that He had to come and die on the cross to save us from eternal punishment. Such is the amount of love he have for each of us.
Sin was not something He could compromise.
Sin was not something He would overlook.
It had to be dealt with.
It had to be punished.
We out of our sinfulness were destined for eternal hell seperated from the ultimate source of life for eternity.
"But God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him, shall not perish but have eternal life.
God sent His Son not to judge the world but to save the world through Him"
John:3:16-17
Time is coming when He would come again. That time to judge.
Have you renounced the old way of sin and believed in Him who paid it all?
Jesus paid it all
All to Him I owe
Sin has left its crimson stain
He washed me white as snow - E. M. Hall
