The concepts in Egypt and Canaan were different, but they had one thing in common. That they were detestable in the eyes of the Lord. It was these practises that God warns Israel of. The evil practised which had become so common( cf: Lev:10:10) that just imitiating their way of life was considered sinful in God's eyes.
God is asking us, as children of God, to seperate us from the corrupt practises of the world. Be it imitating the common daily routine, or committing the vilest of offences. Sin always remains something which God abhors.
God is very serious about sin. It is not something which can co exist with God.
Am I serious about sin?
If not, why?
Because there is no love. If I love God I will hate sin. Even the smallest one. I will have the mind of God to be serious about sin.
Dear one. There will be that ache in your heart, if you commit. There will be that yearn not to hurt Godeach time God points out something or the Holy Spirit prompts you - your desire is to repent and repulse from it.
Slowly but steadily God will help you dear one. Rome is not built in a day. From the gross ones to the subtle ones. From the obvious wrongs to the common ones. As He reveals lets purifry ourselves.
One day we will surely stand in white robes (only because we are washed by the blood of the Lamb) before Him. Amen
So dear one, be serious about sin.
Be serious about your relation with God.
Be serious about your love to Him.
If you love me you will obey my commands - Jesus Christ.
