You are not far from the Kingdom of God. Mk:12:34
Jesus said this to the religious leader who understood the truth that, loving God with all your heart, mind and soul and loving your neighbour as yourself is more important than doing all sacrifices and rituals as required by the law. He understood that the law is just a guideline and mechanically following of the law shall not take you anywhere. He understood that the heart and its motifs are most important. More important than the habitual involuntary doing of certain acts.
Do you hear a mechanical whir in your life?
Why do you take your quiet times?
Why do you read posts and forwards with Christian content?
Why do you attend church?
Why do you do the religious activites that you are doing?
Is it really due to your passionate love to God and wanting to know Him more?
If it is from a genuine heart, you are not far from the Kingdom of God. Everytime you do that with a genuine heart, you come closer and closer to Him. But if you do callously, there is this gradual, subtle whir which slowly drifts you away from the heart of God, taking you farther and farther away from Him. Looks dangerous. Be careful.
