The gracious hand of the Lord was on him. Ezra:7:6,9
Ooh! Every single one of us want this blessedness. That the gracious hand of the Lord , be upon us. We bless each other with this. We desire for ourselves the same.
Ezra, according to the Persian Empire was a nobody. Not a prominent figure in the kingdom. Not politically important. Not a publically acceptable identity. But he was favoured by the authorities because the gracious hand of the Lord was upon him.
Why?
Ezra:7:10 - This was because Ezra was determined to study and obey the law of the Lord and to teach those decrees and regulations to the people of Israel.
His determination was to seek God.
His value system, his living style were all concentrated around God Himself. His passion, his priorities, his desires were all God's too. There was no agenda separate for him.
How can we even dream of having our own separate prayer lists and priorities. And asking God to bless.
Asking for degrees, money, material possessions, honour - all these are totally against the system by which the kingdom of God operates. His etiquettes are different
- you cannot serve two masters
- when you are in this world, you will have much trouble
- show them the other cheek
- let them have the cloak too
- carry for two more miles
- love your enemies.
We are so possessed with our own selfish desires. We are not able to think the way God thinks.
But if our focus is on God and knowing Him and loving Him, if we are determined to seek Him alone. His desires become our desires and then the gracious hand of the Lord will be upon us.
Where as, if we seek material and worldly benefits, then this is not the way. Probably your hardwork might help. Please go ahead.
NB: Seek ye first the kingdom of God and all these (needs) things shall be added into you.
(Jehovah Jireh)
