Luke7:47
I tell you, her sins - and they are many, have been forgiven, so she has shown me much love. But a person who is forgiven little shows only little love.
A person who is forgiven more, will show more love. A person who is forgiven less, will show less love. But all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. There is no one who does good.
The person who keeps all of the laws except one, is as guilty as the person who has broken all of God's laws. All our righteous deeds are like filthy rags.
We stand before a God whose standard is, looking lustfully at a woman is equivalent to adultery. So infact, there is nothing called greater sin and lesser sin in His eyes. There is nothing like more or less sin. All of us have equally rebelled. Then what did Jesus mean?
Those who realize the depth of the pit from where they are saved, will show more love. If you think you were a good person, who did few sins, you think you are saved from a shallow puddle. May be your puddle would be as small as a few feet deep, or even a shoe print. You think you were sufficient. And therefore your grateful heart is small. And therefore you show less love. You spend less time with Him, you know Him only little.
But if you know that you are rescued from a wretched bottomless pit, which you had no clue how to scale, helpless not knowing what to do, that is when a wounded hand stretched out to pick you up, undeservingly the Hand rescued you out. And made you sit on throne thereafter. Then you realize the weight of your salvation. When you realize how precious and big is the prize that He has paid, by being identified as the very thing He abhors. When you realize the huge step He took, to take you to His bosom, to redeem you. Then you pour out more love.
So where are you now? From where have you been rescued? If you struggle to have a fruitful relation with Jesus, is it because you don't know the depth of your rescue mission. You don't know the gravity of the Operation bard.
Implore God. Seek Him to open your eyes. To show the magnanimity of this God and the fullness and wretchedness of your heart.
