Eccl:10:20
Never make light of the king, even in your thoughts
And dont make fun of the powerful, even in your bedroom
For a little bird might deliver your message
And tell them what you said.
Even the walls have ears. This idiom scares your wit out of you if you find fun in gossipping. The Qoholeth warns everyone in the same way. A small bird might tell your secrets to them. We are not in the land of talking beasts of Narnia to be afraid of that.
Who knows - your listener or may be you yourself might blurt it out.
And also talking behind someone's back is not fitting well for a man or woman with integrity.
Mal:3:16 And those who feared the Lord spoke with each other and the Lord listened to what they said.
Well the Lord is listening, always. What His children are talking to each other, amongst each other. To his non Christian friends.
Will He be ashamed? Will we make Him proud?
If He would proudly bring in the enemy to our conversations challenging him like in Job's times. Who will have the last laugh?
Let us guard our tongue. Let us birdle it.
James:3:2
For if we could control our tongues we would be perfect and could also control ourselves in every other way.
