Brooding


2 Sam 12
David fasted and prayed for the child to live. But when the news came that the child is dead, he washed himself, went to the tabernacle and worshipped God and ate food. 
David was a very practical man. His explanation was - 'Why mourn for my dead child? He has gone. I would go and meet him one day.' What a hope? 
But now that he is gone and I can't do anything about it, what is the point of mourning over something which I can't control. I have other responsibilities - commitment to the Lord. Commitment to Bathsheba, to comfort her - she has already gone through enough trauma. I have my responsibilities as a king, as a husband, as a child of God. I cannot sit over my personal grief and bring it as an excuse. 

How many excuses have I raised in order to escape from my responsibilities. David was not willing to mourn over something and neglect his role. 
Though it was a consequence of his wrongdoing, when he genuinely repented, the Lord extended His forgiving hand and David experienced pardon. That's it, no more brooding over it. It is all done. 

May be you ruminate over some of your past sins. It is all done and dusted when Jesus said, 'It is finished' on the cross. And when you genuinely repent, that is enough for reinstation of the lost relation. 
Be of good cheer. Mulling over something and neglecting your roles will not catch any eggs. Clinging on to God alone will help you to come over it.

    I've done this so many times in the past..certain things I fast and pray and when it doesn't happen like how I wanted, I will be so disappointed and ask, why God...but over the years I've realised, God's plan is the best for me. That's when I learnt to pray...Let your will be done. Only ur will in my life even if its not my wish. That really helped me to overcome disappointments. Also, to learn that God's plans r better than mine.

      True that. If we trust, there is no brooding over. If I'm sure of my identity in God I'll not brood over. Jesus said. If it's possible take this cup away from me. But he was sure of what He has come to do. Hence he said. Let not my will but yours be done.

    Amit.. I was feeling a bit down so was just scrolling and opened this and realised how much (peace and life) we are robbed of when we keep brooding over things...mostly very real and genuine...but still the only thing we can do is to take it to Him. Ask him for grace to handle it right

Love for money

Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have. Heb:13:5 Love of money is the root of all evil. 1 Tim:6:10 Not money perse. But love for money is the root of all evil. You will never be satisfied. America's first billionaire John D. Rockfeller was asked, how much money was enough? Without holiness no one will see the Lord. Heb:12:14 Therefore make every effort to be holy.  Holiness is an attribute that God cannot keep aside. In fact none of His attributes can He do away with. You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. James:4:14 Life is so futile. And temporal. If you concentrate on what you are gonna get in this life. You will definitely be disappointed. Those temporary happinesses will not last long. Like a puff of smoke it will vanish. For you are made for eternity. Painful

Consider it pure joy whenever you face trials ofany kind. James:1:2 How can you be joyous when you face trials? You know for sure that God is in control. You know that God will work on your favour because you are His beloved. All things God works for your good. You know that God will bring about a solution. These are good reasons to be joyous. But apostle James tells even more better reasons. Persevere during testing times. Cling on to God during these difficult times. Because perseverance when it finishes it's working, you will become mature and complete. Your character will change because of that perseverance. You will become more Christ like. Just as He desired you to be. Complete. Just like silver is purged of gross when it goes through fire. It is difficult for the silver. Painful. Draw near

Draw near to Him and He will draw near to you. James:4:8 Come out of your rebellion. Stop taking the driver's seat. Draw near to Him. Be miserable, mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned into mourning and your joy to gloom (v:9) Be serious about your rebellious nature and seriously repent. Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord. (v:10) A repentant mournful heart is always better than a rebellious pseudojoyous heart. In Christ alone is your complete joy. Repent of your rebellious ways and reinstate with Him. Humble yourself in God's presence. You are nobody big. You are nobody significant unless God is on your side. Keep yourself at His feet. Because of your sin, you do not even deserve it. But God has been gracious. Always be aware of this. Not worthy. #faith13

The world was not worthy of them. Heb:11:38 The world and its blessings eluded them. Fools they look because they chased something they did not receive. The world was not worthy of them. Because of their faith, they deserved much more than what this world could offer them. V:40. God had planned something better for us, so that only together with us, would they be made perfect. Inorder to live with a heavenly or eternal perspective you need to have faith. That eternal perspective is what you are destined for. Without which you are incomplete. And without you heaven is incomplete. Living with a finite perspective of what this world could offer will limit you. What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard and what no human mind has conceived, that things God has prepared for those who love Him. 1 Cor:2:9
