Israel demands a king to rule over them
God says they have rejected Him as King
He finally agrees to their desire.
To hoard over them, to exploit them
Eventually God had thought of a King David
But they, adamant, asks for King Saul
David was a depiction of an ideal king
But Saul a personification of a selfish tyrant
Do you want to settle for the suboptimal
When God has planned ahead the finest
He might eventually agree to give what you desire
If you're adamant, if you're resolute
But Israel refused to listen to the warnings
They were persistent to have a king
"Like other nations around us", they demanded
And they did get one, a despotic one.
Ask and you shall receive
Knock and the door shall be opened
But is it what God wants in my life?
He is the authour, the creator, the one with the big picture
Yes ask in accordance with His will
Like Jesus, not my will but yours
If it's not your will, let it pass
That should be what we desire!
He knows the plans He has for us
Plans to prosper, and not to harm
But if I'm rigid, He will give what I desire
Yet with its consequences for me to learn the lesson
Yes God can transform our blunders to wonders
Thus consequence is a means to trust Him more
The one who is in full control, who knows it all
That I am myopic, and He has the Big picture
Do not settle for Saul, when you can have David
Do not settle for Potiphar's house
When you can be the second to King later
Do not settle for the ordinary
A desire, a plan, a wish, an aspiration
But is it really what God wants
Am I willing to let go?
If not so, I'm selfish. This is lust, not love
True trust, yields everything
True love, lets go
Do not be resolute on your wishes
But be resolute on your God.
