Have you noticed something beautiful about the genealogy of Jesus Christ? There are in total only five women mentioned in it. And all these five women were those who were so much demeaned in their lives. Labelled as unwanted. Rejected and heart broken. It was these seemingly unimportant women who became part of Jesus' line.
Tamar's two husbands died. Her second husband ridiculed her. Judah her father in law derided her. Later considered her as a prostitute even though he was equally at fault. Her son was born out of her father in law. How much that child Perez would have suffered in the society?
Rahab was a true prostitute. A gentile.
Salmon was gracious enough to marry her.
Ruth was an outsider. After she came into the family, there was only trouble. People would have labelled her as an ill-omen.
Uriah's wife was subject to rape by the king when her husband was still alive. Her husband was killed. And she had to live her life as the wife of the man who killed her husband. Her child dies.
Mary got pregnant before her marriage. What all she might have been talked about in the society. But God included them all in the story of Jesus. Even though it is an official list of fathers. He includes the rejected, insignificant women too.
Dear sister (even you brother), do people see you as significant? Do you consider yourself as infinitesimal? Not God. You are so so precious for Him. He says you are the Apple of His eye.
If you think you have squandered all hopes either because of your sin or because of other's barbarism and inhumanity to you, He has promised, He will never leave you not forsake you.
In the book 'Chronicles of brothers' by Wendy Alec, Zadkiel is a fallen angel who is forced to rebel because of the evil schemes of Lucifer. But Zadkiel had his heart devoted to Jehovah. Yet, he is bound to utter darkness in Sheol till the judgement day. As we read in the book, we see loving, compassionate Jesus coming to rescue Zadkiel from Sheol. He walks into Sheol triumphantly after rising from death to rescue Zadkiel and take him back home. This could be fiction, this could be untrue. But the love of Jesus is true. He will not leave the orphans and widows alone. He loves those who are not loved. He is love.
